Forum Architecture, Beneficial Communities Converting Historic School in Georgia into 80-Unit Seniors Housing Community

COLUMBUS, Ga. — Beneficial Communities and Forum Architecture & Interior Design Inc. have started the conversion of a historic school in Columbus into an 80-unit seniors housing community named The Waverly Senior Apartments.

The developer and designer, both based in Florida, plan to adapt the four-story school building and gymnasium, formerly Columbus Junior High School, into 40 apartment units. A new four-story building will bring the additional 40 units, along with a porte cochere.

The school was originally built in 1906. The apartments are designed for low-income seniors.

Other companies contributing to the development are Empire Corp. of Tennessee Inc., general contractor; Wright Engineering, structural engineer; Joseph, Lawrence & Co., MEP engineer; and EMC Engineering Services, civil engineer.
