Mease Manor Purchases Florida Church Building

CLEARWATER, Fla. — Mease Manor, a retirement community located in Dunedin, has purchased a 27,453-square-foot church and educational facility on a 4.91-acre lot at 1625 Union Street in Clearwater. The purchase price was $1.1 million.

Jim Parker, director of commercial services for Colliers International Tampa Bay, represented the seller, Union Street United Methodist Church.

“Union Street United Methodist Church is a growing church that places heavy emphasis on missionally supporting the surrounding community,” says Parker. “In order to continue serving the community, the church decided to sell its buildings and use that money for additional missions work.”

Following the sale closing, Union Street United Methodist Church will begin to move its congregation, worship services and missional ministries to First United Methodist Church of Dunedin, where it is leasing space, presently under renovation. In the meantime, many of their programs are still housed in their previous facility, through a sale-leaseback agreement with Mease Manor.

Mease Manor is a not-for-profit retirement living community that offers residents assisted living, skilled nursing and rehabilitative care, as well as wellness and home care.

“Though no specific plans have been made for the church property, this beautiful oak-canopied campus offers tremendous opportunity for Mease Manor to develop the property into a myriad of uses based upon the needs of the surrounding community,” said Jack Norton, president and CEO of Mease Manor.
