COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Methodist Retirement Communities, a nonprofit seniors housing developer based in Texas, has agreed to purchase 12 acres of land in College Station to build a 114-unit seniors housing community.

The yet-to-be-named community will comprise 72 independent living apartments, 24 assisted living apartments and 18 memory support suites, with room for future expansion.

Each of the five-story buildings will have six apartments per floor with a common living room and kitchenette on each floor.

The College Station City Council recently approved tax-exempt bond financing for the development. Once the independent living flats are 75 percent reserved, Methodist Retirement Communities will finalize securing construction financing and begin building, with a projected completion date in or before 2018.
