DALLAS — Developer and operator Senior Quality Lifestyles Corp. (SQLC) has broken ground on a previously announced $36 million expansion and renovation of Edgemere, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Dallas.

The first phase of the project involves the addition of a 6,000-square-foot performing arts center. Additionally, renovations are planned for two dining venues.

Upon completion, the project will add more than 75,000 square feet to the community. Plans include adding eight new assisted living apartment homes, 12 new memory care suites and 15 new skilled nursing suites.

The Plaza at Edgemere common areas will also be updated with indoor/outdoor courtyards and renovated dining areas. An underground parking garage will be added for additional parking for family members and guests.

Edgemere currently comprises 304 independent living apartments, 60 assisted living apartments, 31 memory care suites and 72 skilled nursing suites.

The project is scheduled for completion during the first quarter of 2018.
