SANDUSKY, Ohio — United Church Homes has broken ground on the addition of 44 independent living cottage homes and a community center at Parkvue Community, an independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing community in Sandusky.

The $18 million project will occur in three phases, with the first phase adding 10 cottage homes and costing $3.2 million. The 1,650- to 1,750-square foot cottages will feature two-bedrooms, two bathrooms, an open-design kitchen and living room.

The community center will include a kitchen, fitness center, activity rooms and informal lounge areas. The expansion will be built on 10-acres of land on the east side of the campus.
