Ventas Elects Walter Rakowich, Roxanne Martino to Board of Directors

CHICAGO — Ventas Inc. (NYSE: VTR) has elected Walter Rakowich, retired CEO of Prologis, and Roxanne Martino, CEO of Aurora Investment Management, to its Board of Directors. Rakowich will serve on the company’s Audit and Compliance Committee and Martino will serve on its Executive Compensation Committee.

Rakowich served as CEO of Prologis (NYSE: PLD) from November 2008 through June 2011, when Prologis and AMB Property Corp. merged. Following the merger, he served as co-CEO of Prologis until his retirement at the end of 2012.

Prior to his time at Prologis, Rakowich was a partner and principal with real estate provider Trammell Crow Co. He began his career at Price Waterhouse. He currently serves on the boards of several other companies and organizations.

Rakowich received his MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University.

Martino has served as president and then CEO of Aurora Investment Management since 1990. Over nearly three decades, she built the Chicago firm into one of the largest managers in the fund-of-funds industry, managing $14 billion at Aurora’s peak.

Prior to joining Aurora, Martino was a general partner in Grosvenor Capital Management. She began her career at Coopers & Lybrand.

Martino was an inaugural inductee into the InvestHedge Hall of Fame and was recognized as one of “50 Leading Women in Hedge Funds” by the Hedge Fund Journal. She also serves on a wide variety of councils and boards.

Martino holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame.

Based in Chicago, Ventas is one of the largest healthcare REITs in the United States.
