CHULA VISTA, Calif. — Douglas Wilson Cos. (DWC) has opened Sienna at Otay Ranch in the San Diego suburb of Chula Vista, the first in the developer’s new line of seniors housing communities.

The $32 million project includes a two-story building offering 85 assisted living units and 26 memory care units. The property is located within the Otay Ranch master-planned development

“With our entry into seniors housing, Douglas Wilson Cos. has launched a business platform to meet the needs and aspirations of America’s aging population,” says Douglas Wilson, chairman and CEO of DWC.

“Today’s generation of healthier, more independent-minded seniors is unwilling to settle for facilities built 20 to 30 years ago,” continues Wilson. “Their expectations are higher, and the range of care they need fluctuates dramatically. To meet this demand, we’re planning more properties like Sienna, which we’ll add to DWC’s build-and-hold portfolio.”

Sienna offers studio, one- and two-bedroom floor plans from 500 to 800 square feet, with monthly rents from $3,800 to $5,500.

DWC is joined in the Sienna joint venture by Milestone Retirement Communities, which handles management responsibilities.
