FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Glavovic Studio, a Fort Lauderdale-based architecture, urban design and planning firm, is nearing completion of renovating the Sailboat Bend Apartments, a seven-story, 105-unit affordable housing community for seniors in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
The building was completed in 1971, and the original designers were Hecky/Yee Consulting Architects and Angelo P. Lucio, Architect.
The $8 million renovation, which includes 76,500-square-feet on the south side of the New River in historical Sailboat Bend, will provide affordable housing for senior residents and will include efficiency units, one- and two-bedroom units and a community room.
To qualify to live in the new apartments, the head of the household must be age 62 or older.
Construction is expected for completion in mid-2015.
