ST. LOUIS — Ascension Living has named Christopher Caserta as its new chief executive officer. He will provide strategic and operational leadership over Ascension’s diversified seniors housing services, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and short-term rehabilitation for the St. Louis-based company.
Caserta is an industry veteran with over 20 years of experience in regional and national health systems and post-acute care organizations. Previously, he served as the vice president of strategy and marketing in the continuing care division at Trinity Health. He led the division’s national strategy for independent living and assisted living, from low-income and market-rate apartments to luxury homes and villas.
Before Trinity Health, Caserta held several executive roles at regional post-acute care organizations and health systems. He brings knowledge of the strategic and operational aspects of home and community-based services (HCBS). He has led the operations of several aspects of HCBS, including home health, hospice, palliative care, private duty nursing and durable medical equipment.
Caserta has developed post-acute care and senior living programs and services, including PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly), value-based risk models and other in-home services. He has also served as a national post-acute care leader for numerous innovative healthcare models, including clinically integrated networks, alternative payment models, integrated care coordination systems and independent physician associations.
Caserta received his bachelor’s degree in biomedical science, with a psychology minor, from Ohio University and a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications from West Virginia University, for which he earned membership into the Golden Key International Honour Society.
