WHIPPANY, N.J. — DIGroup Architecture and Jewish Community Housing Corp. (JCHC) have completed a renovation and expansion project at Lester Senior Living in Whippany, approximately 30 miles west of Manhattan. The project includes 20,000 square feet of newly completed modern amenities. Alterations at Lest’ers Heller Independent Living and Weston Assisted Living areas included re-envisioning the first-floor area as a more interactive space for residents. These gathering-place enhancements involved the café/reading room and refurbished dining room. Additions to the second floor encompassed a new theater. The atrium was also renovated.

FREEHOLD, N.J. — Ziegler has arranged $42.5 million in bond financing for FellowshipLIFE, a nonprofit owner-operator of continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) in New Jersey. The borrower will use the funds to acquire Applewood, a CCRC formerly owned by CentraState Healthcare System in the North Jersey town of Freehold.  Located on approximately 44 acres, Applewood opened in 1990 and offers a full continuum of care to its long-time residents. MOORESTOWN, N.J. — Resort Lifestyle Communities has completed Parkers Bend Retirement, an independent living community in Moorestown, approximately 10 miles east of Philadelphia.  The company will hold a grand opening for the community on April 18. Although the number of units was not disclosed, they come in studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom plans.

JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Hudson Valley Property Group has completed the renovation of Grandview Terrace Apartments, a 283-unit affordable seniors housing complex in the Journal Square area of Jersey City.  The $15.2 million, 16-month project upgraded the cabinetry, countertops, appliances, lighting, flooring, walls and water fixtures in the units and added amenities such as a new sky lounge with a stretching room, community room, library and a computer center.  KeyBank provided construction financing for the project, and that loan was refinanced under HUD’s 223(f) program upon completion.

NEWARK, Del.; HAMILTON and WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Juniper Communities has taken over management of three Leisure Care senior living properties providing assisted living and memory care. The three properties are part of Columbia Pacific Advisors’ seniors housing portfolio.
