IRVINE, Calif. — HCP Inc. (NYSE: HCP), one of the largest healthcare REITs in the United States, has made several changes to its executive leadership.
The company promoted Tom Klaritch from senior managing director of the medical office division to chief operating officer. HCP also hired Doug Pasquale, formerly president and CEO of both Atria Senior Living Group and Nationwide Health Properties, as a senior advisor to the executive team.
Meanwhile, Jon Bergschneider, HCP’s senior managing director of the life science division, has resigned upon accepting a job as chief development officer of BioMed Realty Trust.
Klaritch will oversee HCP’s streamlined office platform, with the life science and medical office businesses reporting to him. He is an 18-year veteran of HCP with 34 years of operational and financial management experience in the medical office and hospital sectors. He has also overseen asset management, planning and budgeting responsibilities in HCP’s life science portfolio since 2007.
Prior to joining HCP, Klaritch was a founding member of MedCap Properties LLC, a company that owned, operated and developed healthcare real estate.
Pasquale will work closely with the seniors housing team led by Kendall Young. In 2012, he was inducted into the Stifel Nicolaus Senior Housing & Healthcare Real Estate Hall of Fame.
