WESTPORT, Conn. — Maplewood Senior Living has promoted Tom Gaston to chief investment officer and Shane Herlet to chief operating officer.
Gaston joined Maplewood in 2011 as the executive vice president of acquisitions and development. He has more than 30 years of experience in real estate development, with 20 of those years dedicated to the luxury seniors housing sector.
Under Gaston, the Maplewood business has expanded from a single upscale community in Danbury, Conn., to 15 communities across three states with several new developments under both the Maplewood and Inspīr brands in the works.
In his new role, Gaston will continue to lead acquisitions and developments for Maplewood with a strong focus on the Inspīr brand of urban senior living communities, as well continue to expand the portfolio footprint of suburban Maplewood Senior Living communities throughout the U.S.
Herlet joined Maplewood Senior Living in 2011 as the executive vice president of operations. He holds a master’s degree in gerontology from Miami University of Ohio and has more than 25 years of experience in the luxury senior housing industry.
Herlet spearheaded a number of key initiatives for Maplewood, focused on organizational growth, leadership, resident satisfaction and resident care.
Based in Westport, Maplewood Senior Living owns and operates 15 senior living communities in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Ohio.
