CHICAGO — The Admiral at the Lake board of directors has announced it intends to end its affiliation and become an independently operated continuing care retirement community. The property is located near Montrose Beach in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood.
“The board of directors worked closely with expert advisors, our stakeholders and the management team to analyze the opportunities that exist for The Admiral at the Lake under a variety of scenarios,” says Laura McKee, board chair. “With this new path forward, we will continue to provide elevated senior living services to older adults of Chicago as we have for more than 160 years.”
Through this collaborative process, The Admiral’s team and The Kendal Corp. will work together to ensure a smooth transition. The Admiral at the Lake team estimates this process will take place in incremental steps over the coming months.
The decision to leave the Kendal System allows The Admiral at the Lake to expand its focus on major business goals, such as exploring innovative technologies and processes and growing relationships with new partners. Additionally, the organization will explore new efficiencies within its operations and more ways to advance its strategic plan.
“We at The Kendal Corporation understand the need for change and growth, and we support The Admiral at the Lake’s decision,” says Amy Harrison, Kendal’s interim CEO and its CFO.
