BEAUMONT, Texas — Buckner Retirement Services, a nonprofit owner-operator based in Dallas, has broken ground on an 80,000-square-foot expansion and 51,000-square-foot remodel at Calder Woods, a continuing care retirement community in Beaumont, located east of Houston near the Louisiana border.
Buckner expects to finish construction by the end of 2017. The new space will include 36 independent living apartments and two skilled nursing buildings. The remodel will include improvements to the existing assisted living areas, as well as a new gym, indoor pool, bistro and common spaces in the existing independent living areas.
Calder Woods was built in 2000 and is the only CCRC in Beaumont, according Buckner. The community serves approximately 300 residents on a 17-acre campus.
