FREEHOLD, N.J. — Distinctive Living, a “boutique” seniors housing management and development firm, has appointed Timothy J. Ford as general counsel and chief human resources officer. In his new role, which became effective May 1, Ford is responsible for overseeing legal matters and human resources functions across Distinctive Living’s portfolio of communities, ensuring compliance with regulations and supporting the company’s mission of providing high-quality care to its residents.
Recently elected to the New Jersey Assisted Living Council Board of Directors, Ford brings almost two decades of extensive legal expertise in senior care, long-term care and assisted living facility operations. Licensed to practice law in New Jersey and New York, as well as the federal courts, Ford has dedicated his career to representing seniors housing developers, owners and administrators.
His practice has focused on risk management, compliance and legal strategies that improve facility efficiency while minimizing liabilities. Prior to joining Distinctive Living, Ford also had extensive experience litigating employment matters in state and federal court.
Before joining Distinctive Living, Ford served as outside general counsel and litigation counsel for numerous senior care and assisted living organizations. He has a strong background in creating comprehensive resident agreements, guiding facilities in employment matters and ensuring effective staff training and compliance with risk management protocols.
Headquartered in Freehold, N.J., Distinctive Living currently operates 48 communities across the country and has 14 under development via its development services platform, Distinctive Living Development LLC. The company focuses on the active adult, independent living, assisted living and memory care segments of seniors housing.
