REDMOND, Wash. — Emerald Communities, a Redmond-based nonprofit owner-operator serving Emerald Heights and Heron’s Key, has hired Sandra Cook as vice president of marketing and public relations.
After 32 years of serving Emerald Communities, Kay Wallen, outgoing vice president of marketing and public relations, is stepping down to retire. Cook is assuming the role effective immediately.
Cook will be responsible for the oversight, direction and operations of marketing and public relations for Emerald Communities, Heron’s Key and Emerald Heights. She will develop, implement and monitor marketing plans to meet sales and occupancy goals for each community.
Cook has extensive experience in hospitality and senior living. She spent seven years in the hospitality industry at various hotels before transitioning to senior living in 2008. In her most recent role as vice president of new development sales for Aegis, Cook successfully spearheaded the opening of nine communities and achieved record-breaking sales and occupancy rates.Cook earned a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management from Universidad de Occidente in Mazatlán, Mexico. She grew up in Mexico before moving to the Puget Sound in 2002 and is fluent in both English and Spanish.
