SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. — Kendal Corp. has hired James Antonucci Jr. as the new executive director for Kendal on Hudson, a 220-unit continuing care retirement community (CCRC) located approximately 30 miles north of Manhattan in Sleepy Hollow.
Patricia Doyle is retiring after serving as the community’s only executive director since its opening in 2005.
Antonucci has served as executive director of Heron’s Key, an Emerald Communities CCRC in Gig Harbor, Wash., since 2016. In that role, he had total responsibility for the startup and operational oversight of the $180 million community. He was directly involved with all aspects of construction and interior design, as well as financial feasibility models, communication and negotiation with the City of Gig Harbor.
From 2011 to 2016, Antonucci was executive director of The Village, a Santa Fe Senior Living rental community in Gainesville, Fla. During his tenure, Antonucci developed a marketing team that boosted average occupancy from 62 percent to 95 percent.
After studying health care administration at the University of Connecticut, Antonucci graduated with a master’s degree in business administration from the University of New Haven. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in business and finance from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn., and earned a doctorate in design construction and planning with a focus on environmental gerontology from the University of Florida in Gainesville.
