LONGWOOD, Fla. — Lifespace Communities has opened The Oaks, a health center expansion at Village on the Green, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in the Orlando suburb of Longwood.
The new building adds 48 skilled nursing beds, 36 assisted living apartments and 18 memory care suites to the 80-acre senior living community.
“We are passionate about providing the best health services to seniors and their families, and the new health center is an invaluable addition to our offerings,” says Rachel Blumberg, executive director at Village on the Green. “Residents can move into independent living knowing that virtually all their current and future health care needs can be taken care of without having to leave our campus. Furthermore, older adults in the Orlando area benefit as they are able to access our services as well.”
The health center addition is part of a $56 million communitywide expansion and redevelopment initiative. The overall project also includes 20 new independent living villas, a new fitness center, additional dining venues, a refurbished auditorium and more.
“These enhancements ensure we’re able to sufficiently serve the growing local senior population for years to come,” says Blumberg, pointing to data from the state of Florida that projects the 65-plus population in Seminole County to exceed 145,000 by 2030. “In our experience, the newest generation of retirees expect top-quality lifestyle offerings and we’re always striving to exceed that.”
Atlanta-based THW Design was the architect and interior designer of the expansion, while Brasfield & Gorrie served as general contractor.
