BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Lifespace Communities has broken ground on an expansion and redevelopment project at Friendship Village of Bloomington, approximately 10 miles south of downtown Minneapolis.
The $114.5 million project will add a new independent living building with 93 apartments, as well as new services and amenities.
Additionally, the 1.75-acre expansion will include a new health center building with a physical and occupational therapy gym, memory care suites and assisted living apartments. Renovations will also be made to Friendship Village’s current health center to redesign all skilled nursing and rehab suites.
Friendship Village of Bloomington is currently home to more than 470 residents.
These additions and updates coincide with an expected increase in demand for senior living options locally. According to the Metropolitan Council, more than 20 percent of all Twin City residents will be age 65 or older by 2040.
A timeline for completion was not released.
