NEW YORK CITY — The Bristal Assisted Living, an owner and operator focused on Long Island and New Jersey, has opened its 23rd community, its first in the borough of Manhattan.
Located at the intersection of York Avenue and 86th Street on the Upper East Side, The Bristal at York Avenue features 132 units, including 44 that offer memory care services.
“New York City’s 65-plus population has increased by nearly 30 percent in the past decade,” says Faraz Kayani, regional director of operations for The Bristal. “The 1.2 million New Yorkers who are now over the age of 65 do not want to remain in housing that no longer provides what they need and want. Yet they also don’t want to move away from the restaurants, museums, performing arts and other advantages that have brought joy to them for many years.”
Kayani projects that the heaviest demand would come from “solo agers” who seek to retain their independence while continuing to call Manhattan their home.
Studio apartments rates for The Bristal at York Avenue start at $12,800 per month, with memory care apartments beginning at $20,150 per month.
