PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. — Focus Healthcare Partners is currently underway on a $28 million renovation project at an independent living property in Port Washington.
Focus Healthcare recently acquired the community, which is being rebranded as The Sinclair at Port Washington. Previously, the community was operated as The Harborside. The property’s new name pays homage to author Sinclair Lewis, who lives in Port Washington during the early 1900s.
Planned upgrades include a new wellness center, apartment renovations, refreshes to interior common spaces, a new culinary program, a movie theater, expanded outdoor recreation spaces with pickleball and bocce courts, a dog park, greenhouse and landscaped walking paths.
Chelsea Senior Living will operate the rebranded community.
“While the location and fundamentals of the property have always been first-class, The Harborside struggled due to limited reinvestment following its bankruptcy nearly a decade ago,” says Curt Schaller, co-founder and principal of Focus Healthcare Partners. “The Sinclair’s no‑entrance‑fee rental model, Chelsea Senior Living’s operational excellence and Focus Healthcare Partner’s $28 million investment commitment will combine to create a new high watermark for independent living on Long Island.”
Chicago-based Focus Healthcare Partners is a private investment firm specializing in seniors housing.
