EUSTIS, Fla. — Housing Trust Group (HTG) has broken ground on Valencia Grove II, a 110-unit affordable seniors housing community in Eustis, approximately 30 miles northwest of Orlando. The project is the second phase of the Valencia Grove project, which has already delivered 144 affordable apartments. Units are reserved for residents over 62 years old who earn 22 percent, 35 percent and 60 percent of local area median income (AMI). Rents range from $286 to $937 per month. HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Pennrose and the Huntsville Housing Authority (HHA) have been awarded low-income housing tax credits from the Alabama Housing Finance Authority for the Phase II expansion of Stoneridge Villas in Huntsville. The project will add 65 units to the affordable seniors housing community, bringing Stoneridge Villas to a total of 145 apartments. CINCINNATI — Gardner Capital has completed Roselawn Gardens, a LEED-certified seniors housing community in Cincinnati. The property features 50 apartments for seniors earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income. Construction was partially funded through the Low-Incoming Housing Tax Credit affordable housing program. Development partners included the Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority, the Ohio Housing Finance Agency, Fifth Third Bank and Stratford Capital. Arco Construction served as the general contractor for the project. Wallick Communities is the operator.
WEST CHESTER, Pa. — Kendal Corp. has completed construction of Preston, a 61,000-square-foot expansion of its Barclay Friends community in West Chester, approximately 25 miles west of Phialdelphia. Preston features 60 new apartments, including 20 for memory care. The building was named in honor of Dr. Ann Preston, a 19-century Quaker activist and physician who was one of the first women in America to become a medical doctor.
