ATLANTA — Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has signed House Bill 987, adjusting the state laws for assisted living and personal care home residents amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Republican state representatives Sharon Cooper and Brian Strickland co-sponsored the bill. Under the new laws, seniors housing communities will be required to pass a slew of state certification and licensing requirements. ROME, Ga. — Greenbrier Development has opened the first units at The Spires at Berry College, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Rome. The property, first announced in 2018, is located on the campus of Berry College, a private liberal arts school approximately 60 miles northwest of Atlanta. Macallan Works modernized the front entry, reception area, dining areas and gathering spaces of all three facilities. ROSWELL, Ga. — Phoenix Senior Living, a developer and operator based in the Atlanta suburb of Roswell, has launched its Healthcare Partnership Program, using three of its seniors housing facilities to take in seniors who have tested positive for COVID-19 but do not require 24-hour nursing care.
