GIG HARBOR, Wash. — Emerald Communities, a nonprofit operator with two continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) in Washington, has appointed Chris Lucero as the new executive director at Heron’s Key in Gig Harbor, just across the Puget Sound from Tacoma. Lucero has more than 17 years of experience in the senior living industry. He holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of New Mexico. As executive director, Lucero will oversee the management, planning, organization, leadership, evaluation and control in all departments of Heron’s Key.

TROY, N.Y. — The United Group of Cos. Inc, a Troy-based owner operator, has promoted Michael DiGiacomo to chief operating officer and Jeff Smetana to chief development officer. DALLAS — Edgemere, a continuing care retirement community in North Dallas, has promoted Teresa Bates to executive director.  Bates brings more than 25 years of senior living experience to the community. She started with Edgemere in 2002 and assisted with the opening of its health center. She held several positions within the community for 17 years before returning in 2022 as the associate executive director. As executive director at Edgemere, Bates oversees the daily operations of the community across all departments and team members.

ST. PETERS, Mo. — Watermark Retirement Communities has named Kathleen Nardoni as executive director of The Watermark at St. Peters. Nardoni has a 15-year career in senior living, including all levels of care, marketing and administration, with responsibilities for opening a new independent living community.
