Genesis HealthCare Divests Home Health, Hospice Business for $84M

KENNETT SQUARE, Pa. —Genesis HealthCare, a Kennett Square-based Skilled nursing provider, has completed the sale of its home healthcare and hospice operations.

Compassus, a Tennessee-based network of hospice and palliative care providers, bought the portion of the business for $72 million in cash and a short-term, $12 million promissory note.

The acquired providers are located in California, Idaho, Montana and New Mexico. Genesis intends to use the sale proceeds to repay debt.
