SAN DIEGO — Independa Inc., a technology and communications company serving the seniors housing industry, has hired Jennifer Willey as chief business officer.
Willey will be responsible for leading strategy, marketing, sales and partnerships for Independa’s commercial and consumer business units.
Willey has more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry. She previously served as vice president of consumer strategy and partnerships for WebMD Health Corp. (NYSE: WBMD). She has served in a variety of roles at companies such as Yahoo Inc. (NYSE: YHOO), AOL Inc. (NYSE: AOL), Sharecare Inc., and Everyday Health.
Prior to working in the digital media industry, Willey began her career as a news anchor and reporter at CBS and ABC affiliates in South Carolina and New York.
Willey has served on the boards of the Consumer Health Products Association and the New York chapter of the Alliance for Women in Media. She has founded, led and volunteered at numerous women’s business empowerment networks, such as the WebMD Women’s Network, AOL Women and CSweetener, an executive mentoring nonprofit.
Willey is a graduate of Cornell University’s School of Agriculture and Life Sciences and resides in New Jersey.
Founded in 2009 and based in San Diego, Independa seeks to help people stay at their residence of choice longer, safer and more comfortably, delaying or even preventing transition to the next stage of care. The company’s main product integrates with televisions, smartphones and other everyday devices in the home or within seniors housing communities.
