Presbyterian Senior Living Promotes James Bernardo to CEO

DILLSBURG, Pa. — The Board of Trustees for Presbyterian Senior Living (PSL) has elected James Bernardo as its new president and CEO. Bernardo has served as acting CEO since June 2019 upon the retirement of Stephen Proctor.

PSL is a Dillsburg-based nonprofit operator. Bernardo has more than 40 years of senior living operations and leadership experience, 32 years of those with PSL.

Prior to this role, Bernardo served as the organization’s executive vice president and chief operating officer. He begin his career with PSL as Executive Director for Westminster Village in Allentown and Kirkland Village in Bethlehem.

In addition to his executive role, Bernardo is currently a surveyor for the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International, the independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services. He is also a past member of the LeadingAge Board of Directors as well as treasurer and chair of its New Membership Task Force.

Bernardo received a bachelor’s degree in social work from LaSalle University and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Pittsburgh.
