CHICAGO — The Economic Club of Chicago, a nonprofit organization focused on economic and social dialogues, has named Debra Cafaro to a two-year term as its chair of the board.
Cafaro is the CEO of Ventas (NYSE: VTR), a massive REIT and one of the largest owners of seniors housing properties in the United States. She will succeed Mellody Hobson, president of Ariel Investments, in the role. Both The Economic Club and Ventas are based in Chicago.
Founded in 1927, The Economic Club of Chicago is an independent, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that fosters connections among Chicago leaders to encourage dialogue on important economic and social issues and to cultivate the next generation of civic leadership. Cafaro is the 49th chair of The Economic Club of Chicago.
