MINNEAPOLIS — Dominium, a leading apartment development and management company, is on track to complete construction on two affordable, senior housing complexes in Minnesota by the summer of 2015.
The Cavanagh in Crystal, Minn., and The Legends at Silver Lake Village in St. Anthony, Minn., are both specifically designed to serve the needs of aging residents.
“Dominium always strives to make long-term, strategic decisions with our investments. We see a clear need for more housing for seniors as the population ages,” says Ron Mehl, senior developer with Dominium. “The Cavanagh and The Legends at Silver Lake Village will add nearly 300 units to Dominium’s growing portfolio of affordable senior housing.”
Dominium currently has 4,600 units of senior housing in 11 states across the country; It is committing more than $53 million with these two projects to continue investing in this growing market.
Working with BKV Architects and Stonebridge Construction, Dominium is building The Cavanagh geared toward the unique needs of older residents. Ergonomic design features including slightly lower kitchen islands and in-unit washers and dryers will add convenience and comfort for residents. With 130 apartment homes, The Cavanagh will feature community amenities like heated underground parking, craft and card rooms and a fully-equipped beauty salon, in addition to an expansive outdoor patio.
The Legends at Silver Lake Village affordable housing complex will offer 169 one- and two-bedroom apartment homes with best-in-class amenities, including Energy Star appliances, in-unit washers and dryers and community features like a library, fitness center and theater room. Units are specifically designed to meet the needs of seniors by the award-winning BKV Architects.
