FREDERICK, Md., and ATLANTA — Immersion Active, a Frederick-based digital marketing agency specializing in senior consumers, has acquired Atlanta-based marketing agency Gilbert & Sheppard Group.
Gilbert & Sheppard Group’s work includes partnerships with builders and developers of active adult, master-planned and senior living communities.
Immersion Active hopes that its digital marketing solutions combined with Gilbert & Sheppard’s specialties in strategic planning and creative solutions will now offer clients complete marketing services.

Real estate marketing and advertising industry veteran Betsy Sheppard and award-winning creative director Kerrie Gilbert lead Gilbert & Sheppard Group. As part of Immersion Active’s Property Development Solutions team, Sheppard is now the director of strategy and Gilbert is the director of brand.
Sheppard has held leadership positions in the residential housing industry including serving on the NAHB 55+ Housing Council’s Board of Trustees and the NAHB Professional Women in Building (PWB) Board of Directors. She is currently serving as the NAHB 55+ Housing Council’s membership chair and is the incoming vice chair of PWB.
Sheppard is also very active in the Atlanta 55+ Housing Council and is a founding member of the Atlanta PWB. She has been recognized as the NAHB 55+ Housing Industry Council Associate of the Year, the Atlanta HBA 55+ Housing Council Chair of the Year, and the Atlanta HBA Associate Member of the Year.
As creative director for Gilbert & Sheppard Group, Gilbert led her team to produce work that has been recognized regionally and nationally with more than 100 housing industry marketing awards. Gilbert is also an active member of the Atlanta HBA’s 55+ Housing Council, and both the NAHB and the Atlanta HBA’s Professional Women in Building Councils.
