DECATUR, Ga. — Tapestry Development Group and Columbia Residential have opened Stride Senior Residences, a 90-unit affordable seniors housing community in Decatur, just east of Atlanta. Development costs were estimated at $19 million. A grand opening ceremony was held May 27 at the property. The transit-oriented community provides critical affordability in a high-cost area, according to the developers. HOUSTON — Watermark Retirement Communities and Hines have unveiled plans for The Watermark at Houston Heights, a 222-unit independent living, assisted living and memory care community in Houston’s Greater Heights neighborhood. The seven-story property will be the tallest building in the neighborhood, with views of the downtown skyline. Two of the floors will be fully dedicated to amenity space. PLAINVIEW, N.Y. — EW Howell Construction Group has completed The Residences at Plainview, an upscale independent living community in the Long Island hamlet of Plainview. Capitol Seniors Housing is the developer and Chelsea Senior Living is the operator for the new 150,000-square-foot community, which features 114 units. EW Howell Construction Group provided pre-construction and construction management services for the project, which converted a former Residence Inn by Marriott into seniors housing. Meyers Architects designed the conversion, with Meyer Senior Living Studio handling interiors and amenities.

FORT WORTH, Texas — KWA Construction has completed Phase II of Columbia Renaissance Square in Fort Worth. Columbia Residential developed the 120-unit affordable senior living community for persons age 62 and above. Designed with improved energy efficiency, indoor air quality and lower utility costs, the residences are built to achieve certification by National Green Building Standard. JHP Architecture designed the three-story, 95,015-square-foot building. Purpose Built Communities, a nonprofit consulting firm, was also a partner on the project.
