FORT WORTH, Texas — Thrive Senior Living and Orison Holdings have announced plans to open Sagewood at Heritage Glen, a new seniors housing community, in Fort Worth in 2026.  Orison Holdings and Arrive Architecture Group designed the property, which will feature 50 assisted living suites and 25 memory care suites.  Atlanta-based Thrive currently operates communities in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Texas and New Jersey. SLIB Brokers 120-Bed Skilled Nursing Facility in Lubbock, Texas

LUBBOCK, Texas — Senior Living Investment Brokerage (SLIB), has brokered the sale of Bender Terrace, a skilled nursing facility located in Lubbock. Situated on 2.7 acres, the property comprises roughly 45,000 square feet and 120 beds.  A local independent owner sold the facility to a national owner-operator. A regional operator was leasing the property at the time of sale.  Matthew Alley and Ryan Saul of SLIB arranged the transaction.

Welltower Agrees to Acquire NorthStar Healthcare Income for $900M

TOLEDO, Ohio and HOUSTON — An affiliate of Welltower Inc. (NYSE: WELL) has entered into an agreement to acquire NorthStar Healthcare Income Inc., a public, non-traded REIT that owns a diversified portfolio of seniors housing properties throughout the United States, for roughly $900 million.  Toledo-based Welltower will take ownership of NorthStar Healthcare’s portfolio of 40 seniors housing communities in the acquisition. Eastern Union Secures $20.4M Financing for Assisted Living Conversion Project in Plano, Texas

PLANO, Texas — Eastern Union has secured two loans totaling $20.4 million to finance the conversion of a former hotel property in Plano, Texas, into an assisted living community. Totaling 137 room across six stories, the building was most recently operated as a Deluxe Inn and was previously a Comfort Inn. Widely Respected Seniors Housing Consultant and Prolific Author Jim Moore Dies at Age 90

FORT WORTH, Texas — Jim Moore, founder of prominent consulting firm Moore Diversified Services Inc. and a 2018 Senior Living Hall of Fame inductee, died Sunday at the age of 90. David Schless, president of the American Seniors Housing Association, made the announcement in an e-mail to the organization’s members on Tuesday. Quoting from Moore’s Hall of Fame biography, Schless wrote that “over the course of his 48-year career, there were few, if any, who had more influence over senior living from the 1980s through his retirement in 2019.” Moore launched …

Berkadia Secures $13M Bridge-to-HUD Financing for Skilled Nursing Facility in Eagles Pass, Texas

EAGLES PASS, Texas — Berkadia has secured a $13 million bridge-to-HUD loan for the financing of a 104-bed skilled nursing facility located in Eagles Pass on the Mexican border. The name of the lender was not disclosed. The undisclosed borrower has operated the property since 2019 and will use the 18-month, interest-only financing to cover the cost to purchase the leased fee interest.
