SHREVEPORT, La. — Care Capital Properties Inc. (NYSE: CCP), the skilled nursing REIT that spun off from healthcare giant Ventas in August, has completed its first major transaction.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — HealthSouth Corp. (NYSE: HLS), a Birmingham-based provider of post-acute healthcare services, has agreed to acquire CareSouth Health System Inc., an August, Ga.-based home health provider, for $170 million.

ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. — JCH Senior Housing Group has arranged the sale of Country Villa Health Service’s entire portfolio, which comprises 18 skilled nursing facilities and one assisted living community across Southern California, at bankruptcy auction for $65 million.

CHICAGO — Care Capital Properties Inc. (NYSE: CCP), the skilled nursing spinoff of giant healthcare REIT Ventas (NYSE: VTR), officially began trading on the New York Stock Exchange today. The company will ring the closing bell to celebrate its first day of trading.
