HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — LifeCenters Communities, in partnership with Charter Senior Living, and the Hutchinson Group, has broken ground on Legacy at Hampton Cove in Huntsville.

The project is part of Wellpoint Community, a 20-acre master-planned development that will include an integrative wellness center, boutique hotel and a residential campus, which will include freestanding villas, townhomes and senior living.

The first phase will be the senior center consisting of 114 independent living apartments, 50 assisted living apartments and 26 memory care suites.   Construction of the 185,000-square-foot senior living community has commenced and is slated for completion in May 2020.

Intergenerational aspects will be sought through specialized wellness programs, building a community infrastructure, and the VIA Center for Wellbeing. The wellness center will offer a range of medical, preventive care, health, fitness, nutrition and spa services designed to improve overall wellbeing.

The VIA Center will include The Enterprise Center, a coworking space and community incubator where various generations can work together, advance technology and create opportunities. The Enterprise Center will also serve as a place of research through partnerships with the community, healthcare providers, biotech companies, local medical schools and universities. Hutchinson Consulting, a hospitality, marketing and recruiting firm based in St Louis, assisted in the creation of the new Wellpoint product and securing the strategic partners for VIA Center.

Charter Senior Living will operate the seniors housing portion of the development.
