GRIFFIN, Ga. — Pennrose and the Griffin Housing Authority have opened Terraces at the Park, a 68-unit affordable seniors housing community in Griffin, approximately 40 miles south of Atlanta.

The grand opening completes the final phase of the Meriwether Homes public housing redevelopment, which includes the 84-unit Oaks at Park Pointe and 85-unit Iris at Park Pointe.

Terraces at the Park offers one- and two-bedroom apartments overlooking the City Park golf course. Amenities include a community room, computer lab, craft room, fitness and wellness center, laundry facilities on each floor, ENERGY STAR appliances, energy-efficient features, lounges and outside porches. The development was built to earn both EarthCraft Communities and EarthCraft Multifamily sustainability certifications.

Financing for the project came from Low Income Housing Tax Credits from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA), with additional funding from Federal Home Loan Bank through its Member United Bank and the Griffin Housing Authority. Bank of America served as the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Investor.

Kitchen & Associates provided architectural services, Capstone Building Corp. served as general contractor and BLOC Global Services provided construction administration. Southface Energy Institute provided EarthCraft consultation.
