BEAUMONT, Texas — Buckner Retirement Services has hired industry veteran Vicki Lee King as the new executive director for its Buckner Calder Woods community in Beaumont, east of Houston near the Louisiana border.
Lee King has 11 years of senior living industry experience, along with a background in finance and marketing. She takes over leadership at Calder Woods from Ben Mazzara, who announced his retirement in July. Mazzara served as the executive director of the community for 12 years.
Lee King most recently served as executive director at WindRiver Companies’ Inn at Los Patios in San Antonio. Prior to that, she oversaw Discovery Senior Living’s Spring Creek in Garland, and held leadership positions with Avanti Senior Living and Capital Senior Living.
Lee King holds degrees in marketing and business law from University of Texas at Arlington and is a Certified Assisted Living Manager.
Located in Beaumont’s growing west end, Buckner Calder Woods is a 17-acre, faith-based community. The property recently underwent an 80,000–square-foot expansion and 51,000-square-foot renovation, resulting in a new wellness center and 67 additional residences.
