Catholic Charities Opens 135-Unit Pope Francis Apartments of Loreto in Brooklyn

NEW YORK CITY — Catholic Charities of Brooklyn & Queens has opened the doors on Pope Francis Apartments of Loreto, an affordable seniors housing community in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn. Designed by RKTB Architects, the development replaces a former Catholic church that closed in 2009. It features 135 apartments in an 83,000-square-foot building. The new residence meets Enterprise Green Communities Criteria, a comprehensive green building framework specifically for affordable housing. Avanath Capital Buys Six Affordable Housing Communities in Northern California for $181.6M

SACRAMENTO — Avanath Capital Management has purchased six affordable multifamily and seniors housing properties in the Sacramento area for more than $181.6 million in an off-market transaction. The portfolio consists of four multifamily and two affordable seniors housing communities totaling 1,032 units. Fairstead Completes $4.5M Renovation Project at Colony Apartments in Covington, Kentucky

COVINGTON, Ky. — Fairstead has completed a $4.5 million overhaul of Colony Apartments, a 43-year-old affordable seniors housing community in Covington, located just across the Ohio river from Cincinnati. Residents of the 137-unit complex received home upgrades, including new kitchens, bathrooms, cabinetry, energy-efficient appliances and lighting, as well as lower monthly utility bills. Development Team Starts Construction of Evermont Mixed-Use Project in Los Angeles

SAN FRANCISCO — BRIDGE Housing has received a $19.4 million refinancing for Magnolia Plaza Senior Apartments, a 125-unit affordable seniors housing community in San Francisco. CPC Mortgage Co. provided the Freddie Mac Targeted Affordable Housing loan. Built in 1988, the property is age restricted to seniors age 62 and over.
